Dry seeds

What if naga yandere? Tw linfantilization, non human yandere * . ` ✧*✧ ✶ * .* . ` ✧*✧ ✶ * . You finished taking a very needed sip of your water bottle, the sun of the desert hitting hard while the dry air gives you some comfort.

For the last years there have been sightings of new creatures and strange plants all around the globe, humanoid forms being photographed or barely being able to be seen in videos.

This inspired some groups to start to investigate, private organizations funding trips to get to the bottom of this.

You were part of a group of explorers taking samples and observing the flora and fauna, and cataloguing the changes they have, your group was assigned the dessert where some of this sightings have happened.

You were a botanist, a student that instead of using their vacation time to rest or maybe hang out with friends, you were approached by one of your professors with the opportunity of going on this trip.

You were ecstatic about it from the start, and even now having to endure the heat and filling tired from the walk, you couldn't contain a silly smile and that spark in your eyes. The expedition was very simple actually, constant walks around the determined zone, everyone on the team had some specialty and even if you were more of a helper than one of the main investigators, you still were allowed to participate and make your own investigations.

The allotted time for this trip was almost two months.

And coming to the middle of the first month you started to notice things, first was the constant feeling of being watched, no matter where you were, how far or how close of the group you stayed, eyes were always on you, you were convinced of this, but had no proof.

The strange things were found near the camp, at first there were strange trinkets, some shiny rocks and metals that from what you were told, had no business being so close to the surface. Then it was carcasses, when you found one of some type of dog looking thing you almost passed out. Not doing well with gory things. The others in camp dealed with those.

The group started to think that maybe you guys had stepped near some animals territory and that maybe these were warnings. So you moved camp, but even then you guys still found weird stuff.

No longer dead animals but now you found what only could be described as trinkets, toys of some kind, a bit rustic if you said so yourself, and what could be described as small sculptures made of stone, clay or wood. Some of animals and flowers, but one looked like a person, a bit funky but it had the shape, those were kind of cute so you decide to keep some of them.

The things that cached your attention were the plants, obviously ripped, and so eye-catching for their colors and characteristics, but the strangest thing was that they were just so out of place in the desert. They were withering quickly under the force of the sun, and held too much humidity, extremely rare to just see it in the middle of the sand.

Today you were a bit far from camp, and you found just a little ball of moss, but what catcher your attention was that the dark little ball seemed to glow in the darkening day.

It was a pretty sight and when you held it it was cold to the touch, you played a bit with it when you saw another one laying a bit farther from you, your curiosity is picked as you get closer taking the next moss ball in your hands, you excuse it in your mind as good samples for the lab.

You catch what seems like another moss ball ahead a bit buried, but when you try to pick it, it doesn't come off, seems like it was a larger piece than the others. You decide to see if with more force you can unlogged it.

You put the moss balls into your small bag and started to tug, you felt some resistance but after putting more force it dislodged, but before you could celebrate you felt the sand under your feet give up, and the next thing you knew you were falling. You didn’t even have time to scream when you felt your head hit something hard, and instantly lose consciousness.

Ishan felt when you hit the ground, sliding quietly near the entrance where you fell, he was proud of the trap if he says so himself, he planted those little toys to lure you further from your pack. He was absolutely smitten when he saw your group approach, humans, he knew of your kind, once upon a time he knew his ancestors encountered your kind, and while some started to worship his ancestors, others decided to hunt them, making them decide to go into hiding.

He heard of how deceiving and resourceful you guys could be, a danger in disguise if not kept in check, and some vermin that was better far than close. That’s what he grew up thinking at least.

But when he saw you all, he found humans adorable, you were just so tiny! Curious little creatures exploring his territory, he wasn’t as naïve as to go to reveal himself to all of you, he decided to watch what you wanted. In that initial spying he saw you, considerably smaller than the rest of the pack, he could sense you were the youngest out of them. You were just the cutest thing he has ever seen, and before he knew he started to leave little gifts for you. Some you kept, but most of them were taken by the rest of the pack. Where you some kind of runt? Was your pack not taking care of you? Even the toys he left for you was taken by the others. At some point that was starting to piss him off. It was obvious you needed most of the resources as the hatchling of your group, but they didn’t even let you keep the toys!!

He still didn’t feel like revealing himself to your group, or give them the chance to alert the others. But what if he made you take the first steps?

Now you layed there, in the cold ground. He checked on you, seeing that you were still breathing, some scrapes in your skin and a cut on your forehead, but you were alive, and for now he was content with that.

Softly he raised you in his arms, holding you close to his chest. You were so small, he just needed one arm to hold you like a baby, a tiny little thing that weighted almost nothing, that fact worried him a it, but you were so warm, soft skin compared with his scaled cold one, and just so squishy! He was smitten with your form. Holding his babies felt nothing like this, he felt that you would break in pieces if he applied the smallest of pressures on you. Placing a soft kiss on your forehead he started to cover the hole you fell from, after all he would hate if that mean pack of yours, stuck their noses in here. After he finished he started to go back home.

Once he arrived he proceeded to clean you up, changing your strange clothes into soft silks he had, treating your wounds and after all that he placed you in his nest, he was so excited! It has been so long since he had eggs on his nest. And even if you were just one hatchling, he would make sure to spoil you rotten, giving you all his attention and love. He proceeded to coil around you, strong tail maneuvering you until you were resting against his chest. Holding you tight he decided to take a nap with you. His baby was the cutest, he couldn’t wait till he got to bond more with you. Maybe he would be able to show you off to his older children!

Developing an nle has been a childhood dream of mine, and thanks to one of my profs i had the opportunity to work on one for my final assignment for my masters degree. Thats why im looking for people who can test it and give me feedback on its overall functionality, because im aiming to get the best possible grade out of it.

this is a minimalist, journalism-oriented NLE called PressPlay. Of course in this sample video im using it for a completely different purpose than what it was meant for, which is video packages for both web and TV news programs (known professionally as VTRs in spain). therefore the only transitions, according to the TV standard, are fade-ins and outs (using both black and white colors) and the only effect available is chroma key. You can also implement chyrons (lower thirds and titles). This doesnt mean im not going to implement more functionality (namely keyframes and color correction) in the future though! im always open to expanding it to make it as comfortable for the end user as possible

this was developed in response to the industry standard which is a hellish NLE called Avid Media Composer which, by the way, nearly fucking toasted my PC once (by installing a corrupted driver). But thats a whole different story.

The point is many of my classmates and coworkers were deeply troubled and confused by the sheer complexity of that program, and yet it is the vademecum of all journalists and media workers worldwide, who often have to use it in their jobs, often under a lot of pressure to put out video packages as fast as possible. Thats why i came up with an alternative, more straightforward solution which should reduce editing times and simplify everything while preserving the basic elements that all video packages should have

So yeah, if you feel like messing around with it and giving me some honest feedback, id really appreciate it, mostly because i also gotta work on an essay for this project and any constructive criticism would be very helpful to me. Thank you.

I did one of these a while back, but with reeaallly low-quality images. These days, there’s more Amethyst stuff out there, and that’s worth an update in its own right.

Amy’s first appearance was technically in Legion of Super-Heroes #298 which featured a “pull-out preview comic” to entice people into picking up the maxi-series. I. 1980’s 12-issue Maxi-Series (+ follow-up Annual)

High jump-through-portal fantasy. Fantastic creatures, creepy villains, magical royalty, intricate world building that explains some things and lets your brain fill in the gaps for others, and consistently gorgeous art. Can’t recommend enough.

The annual shown takes place after the maxi-series and sets the stage for the ongoing series that follows.

II. 1980’s 16-issue Ongoing Series (+ follow-up Annual)

While there is a lot of fantastic stuff going on with the ongoing series, it is more of a mixed bag.

While I am forever in love with cover of issue #11, I remember turning to page 1 and wondering what the heck happened to the inside art. It’s not bad, really. It just doesn’t meet the high bar of the covers (or earlier interiors). Looking back, I realized the art was getting less detailed well before that, but my reading was all over the place as a kid bc I’d just read whatever issues I could find.

This here, at issue #12, is actually a good place to stop. By which I mean, the next 4 issues + special reek of grimdark edge-lord bs that doesn’t even make sense without reading Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, if you wish to proceed…

The final issue of the ongoing is technically a cliffhanger, and the Special grants the writers the extra pages they need to finish wrapping up their whole Lords of Order & Chaos/Dr. Fate tie-in.

After this, someone in DC editorial raised their pencil and went “Hey! What if we made the Gemworld the origin for one of our Legion of Super-Heroes villains?” And thus…

III. 1980’s 4-issue Mini-Series

This thing is all kinds of whack, but it is gorgeous. I get the impression that when Kieth Giffen and Mindy Newell were assigned this sucker, they just read a summary of the OG series and winged it.

Probably not, since they technically wrote those final issues of the ongoing, but that’s how it feels. Despite this, it’s grown on me like a fungus, and the mind-blowing art by Esteban Moroto is, like, 98% of the reason why.

Amethyst is always at her weirdest when Dc is trying to tie her in with the rest of the DCU. In this case, the mini is supposed to explain how a Legion of Super-Heroes villain has origins that go back to the Gemworld. Why? Idk. But if I remember correctly, it was even part of the advertising for this series.

IV. 2012’s DC Nation Amethyst Cartoon Shorts

In hindsight, these may have been made as the advent of the Sword of Sorcery series, but they really were a charming sip of water after two decades of nothin’. A cute lil’ standalone series that turns the Gemworld into a video game. Amy is then, of course, sucked into it.

Fun fact: the producer, @briannedrouhard is on tumblr, and often posts art and further ideas she had for the series.

IV. 2013’s Sword of Sorcery: Amethyst

This New 52 eight-issue (9 included the ‘0’ issue, oy) series got my hopes up after all those years, but I gotta admit I was a bit disappointed by the completely new supporting cast. Apart from Amy herself, none of the original characters made it into the series.

It feels likely a completely different fantasy series with an “Amethyst” label slapped on it. That said, Aaron Lopresti’s art is beautiful, and this version of Amy—Amaya—eventually joined the New 52’s Justice League Dark and picked up a bit of a cult appreciation over there.

That said, I’ve had some spoilers for her time on JLDark, and the storyline is just a bit… too�� dark for my tastes. So I’m quite content to see her nu52 series retconed, even though I did nearly collect all 9 issues.

V. 2019’s Wonder Comics - Young Justice: Gemworld

Remember how I said Amethyst always gets weird when she collides with the greater DCU? Yeah, forget I said that. Never mind. Most brilliant combo idea since peanut butter and jelly.

No, I’m not biased not at all bc I’m a big Young Justice fan. Nope. Ok. Maybe a lil’ bit. While the continuity here is it’s own thing, there are a lot of nods to the original Gemworld in the world-building.

Does this series fully explore the potential of all the ideas in it? Frankly, no. YJ fans complained a lot about the lack of breathing space in this series for a reason. But I’m still happy with it and happily re-reading it for the fun ideas it slaps together.

If you are reading this for the Amethyst, however, there isn’t much point in reading past issue 6, aka volume 1 of the trade. After that point, Amy stops getting much spotlight, though she remains on the team’s roster until the series’ end.

VI. 2020’s Wonder Comics - Amethyst Miniseries

The fact that both this series and the YJ one appear under the “Wonder Comics” label is a bit misleading. They do not share any continuity at all. However, the opening splash page of the first issue references multiple events from original Amethyst continuity!

Later world-building details make it clear that this is a different version of Amy and the Gemworld, but Amy Reeder’s affection for the original series remains apparent.

VII. 2021’s Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld by Shannon & Dean Hale

This one is actually a kid-oriented graphic novel. Again, with its own continuity and world-building. I think the thing that stands out to me the most about this take is that the Hales give Amy a kid brother and make him quite relevant to the plot.

It’s pretty stand-alone and not really marketed as a comic book per se, but it is charming and the art is quite cute.

Wonyoung starts her days by stretching, this can help to relieve any tension or pain from the night before. Stretching shouldn't take that long to do, so make sure to stretch for at least 5 minutes every day. If you don't know how to do it, you can follow along a tutorial like this one.

Next step is skincare, to create the perfect skincare routine you need to at least wash your face and then use moisturizer and sunscreen, use products based on your skin type and add more steps only if you find it really necessary.

Now it's time for breakfast! Wonyoung loves to drink a cup of soy milk every morning, she also likes to have light and clean breakfast, so a good idea is to have some fruits and yogurt.

Finally, it's time to get ready for the day! Choose a cute outfit and hairstyle that fits the occasion + do your makeup, find your own style and get inspiration from Pinterest!

First things first, organize your time so you have at least a week to study for exams or get your assignments done. Avoid procrastinating, the more time you have, the less work you'll have to do.

One time, when Wonyoung was asked about study tips, she said that it's important to find your own study style. Study methods don't work on everyone, so it's important to experiment with various methods until you find the one that works the best for you.

Now that we know our study style it's time to actually work and focus hard, for this we need to create the perfect study environment, clean and ventilate your room, turn some instrumental music on (or study with me videos for inspo), get some healthy snacks, water or literally anything to make yourself comfortable! (stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, etc.)

When studying, always focus on understanding the content and continuously solve sample questions, repeating the same material for various days actually helps to remember details better, but if you are in a rush or running out of time you can try and memorize the content.

Take breaks and get enough sleep, taking breaks in between study sessions it's actually more productive than not doing so, some productive ways of taking breaks are meditation, listen to music, reading, journal or taking a power nap, sleep is very important, you can't have a proper study session if you don't have the energy to do so.

Stop comparing yourself with others! You aren't in a competition with the rest, the only opponent you have is yourself, so your goals should always focus on breaking your own records and become even better than your past self.

✸ ꒰ workout routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆

When working out like wonyoung we should aim to improve our posture and be more flexible, this will help when doing Pilates or yoga just like she does. Also, we can focus on losing weight or just toning up our bodies if you don't find it necessary.

Wonyoung love Pilates, you can pick any Pilates workout on YouTube based on your time or in your specific body goals, but here's a Pilates routine inspired by her. Also, if you feel like doing a full body workout, here's another video inspired by wony!

If you don't really like to work out at home, the other options you have is that you can try and join a flying yoga class like Wonyoung! She also spends lots of her time doing dance practice, so choosing your favorite kind of dance could be an option too!

Choose one and start doing it continuously to start seeing results, also, it's very important to have non-physical goals, like feeling happier or meet new friends! Remember to always drink water!

✸ ꒰ shower and self care routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆

Time for some self-care! First, take off your makeup using micellar water or an oil based cleanser (only if you have dry skin!).

Then it's time to hop on the shower and start with our haircare routine, one of wonyoung's charms is her long healthy hair, so make sure to use the right products for your hair. Here's a quick haircare routine you can follow; massage your scalp using a scalp massager or your fingertips, then use the right amount of shampoo only on the scalp, next use a conditioner from middle to ends to moisturize and detangle your hair. If you identify a problem with your hair (for example too dry, difficult to manage, etc.) you can add using a hair mask to this routine!

While we leave the products in our heads for a few minutes, it's time for bodycare! always clean your body with soap and a loofa, if needed exfoliate your body 1-2 times a week for super soft skin! Next is shaving, shave only if needed and never do it when your skin is dry, if you don't have shaving cream, you can use conditioner, just make sure to rinse it very well after.

After we are done with the shower it's time for skincare, wash your face, you can also exfoliate your face 1–2 times a week (3 if your skin it's too oily). This is also the perfect time to use a face mask! Use a hydrating sheet mask if you feel that your skin is dry, or a clay mask if you feel your skin is oily. Finally, use a moisturizer.

With clean hands and our skincare done it's the perfect time for face massages! Massaging our faces can help to improve skin texture and reduce the puffiness of the face, I personally like to do it with my hands, but you can also use a facial roller or gua sha (just make sure to keep the clean).

We can't forget to moisturize our bodies, make sure to apply lotion all over your body, especially if you exfoliated or shaved, use a lotion with your favorite scent (strawberry, vanilla, etc.) or use an unscented lotion and immediately apply perfume to smell good all day long.

It's now time to continue with our haircare, gently brush your hair and dry it, if you are using a hair dryer you must apply some heat protection. Also, make sure to apply a leave-in conditioner to prevent dry ends!

You can add more stuff to this routine if you need, like applying a lash serum to grow your lashes, or clean your makeup brushes, so you start doing it more regularly! Also, it's the best time to get some motivation, you can scroll down Pinterest or watch YouTube videos from thewizardliz, song jia, vogue beauty secrets or any content creator that inspires you to become the best version of yourself!

✸ ꒰ night routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆

First step is to have dinner, if you're going to eat near your bedtime you should mind your portions and what you are eating, avoid heavy or spicy food, so you can rest better and really get that beauty sleep.

Every night, before going to bed, you can make some time to organize the next day (what are you going to do, plan the outfit/makeup/hair, etc.) and clean your room! It's very satisfying to wake up to a clean room, it also helps a lot when you have everything you need in the morning already set up, so you don't end up getting late!

Before going to bed is the best time for some yoga or stretching, yoga can help with relaxing your body before sleeping, specially if you exercised or if you were sitting down for many hours because of work or school.

Finally, the best way to finish your day is to read to help you wind down! Specially if it's near your bedtime and you aren't sleepy yet. You can even read comics! Just read any physical book you have, reading on a device can be distracting and will make you stay up past your bedtime.

what was ur trajectory for getting into hardcore?

Short answer:

Long timeline below the cut:

c. 2009-2011: get into vocaloid because a high schooler TA at art camp plays World Is Mine and a few other classics, and i think it's just the coolest thing ever.

c 2012-2013: still really into vocaloid. it's my special interest. finding myself enjoying electronic stuff but not knowing anything about genres. going on youtube deep dives, listening to anything i can find reuploaded off niconico. i have a bookmark folder from around this time with a good hundred or so songs in it lol

2013-2014: introduced to things like wolfgun, pendulum, and more experimental electronic like osamu sato by tumblr mutuals. some of my mutuals make their own music. they and quite a few others i follow are into lapfox but i never went out of my way to listen. the callout drops and i have no idea what anyone is talking about but i avoid the subject.

i want to get into making music. i had a tiny bit of background when i was in elementary school, but i still struggle to read sheet music, i don't know shit about playing the piano, and i don't know what programs to use. i watch Cakewalk videos in mystified awe, unable to read anything on it. i am very bad at searching for information online.

somehow, i get myself into using UTAU, mostly just converting USTs, doing a little tuning, and trying to edit in Audacity. I start using Famitracker. While I struggle with the interface, I finally for the first time understand music. The process of synthesizing a sound makes sense for me, and I want more.

2014-2015: i'm into 8tracks and i like, like fucking, electroswing and glitch hop and shit. i'm just listening to random dancey electronic. i don't know. i liked the hotline miami soundtrack

2015: old vocaloid producers are retiring and moving on, the slump is starting to hit. i get a new computer, i deleted my old tumblr coinciding with losing most of the people i spent time with on there, i focus more on school. but i'm on twitter and soon i've remade my tumblr.

i start making new friends. i get invited to play nekodancer with one of them, and get introduced to their friend (hi ein). i think he put on like a goreshit song or a touhou arrange or something but it just really cracked my brain open.

i get into touhou, i get into touhou arranges, and this is when i meet gabber and breakcore. i'm also pretty into lolicore but i have a hard time talking about it due to it being called lolicore (oh, how time changes a person)

2016: at this point, hardcore is my special interest. i'm collecting things in youtube playlists, i'm getting really granular about genres. i'm slurping shit off of lolicore.ch

i want to make hardcore but i don't know how. i try doing things in sunvox to no avail. i try playing around in audacity to no avail. but the hardcore spirit is within me

additional events of note:

2016 or 2017: i don't know when or how i ended up finding out about 4lung, probably a twitter mutual. i like her stuff and she puts out a lot of it. the fanbase is friendly.

if you ask, 4lung will send you a pastebin with a link to FL studio, sample packs, and tips on getting started making breakcore. so i get FL studio. i'm still busy at school, but i make some practice tracks for assignments.

2017: i make the first E-R0 MAID.f track.

and then i just kept going. my music-related special interests wax and wane with my ability to focus on them compared to other things going on in my life but they never really fade completely. in early 2023 i started djing so that's brought it back.

Last month I have been making my computer more pleasing to look at for myself, primarily in the style of Frutiger Aero or more precisely, Frutiger Aqua. However, even with a moving wallpaper of swimming fish and other aquatic shenanigans, it was not enough. Thus, I made myself a kind of... waterkeyboard using the opensource project called "MechVibes". I decided to share this here because I thought it would be fin-teresting...

I used free sounds one can find on pixabay. Splashes were used for the "Space Key", "Delete Key", and "Enter Key" because those are more powerful and usually bigger keys in contrast to the other keys. I used regular waterdrop sounds for the center of the keyboard. More lighter or softer sounding waterdrops are at the top of the keyboard or also below the central keys. Echoing ones sound the even farther one presses something from the middle and the top. The keyboard's center equals the most direct waterdrops and the further one goes the lighter, softer or more distant waterdrops sound. For the "O" and "U" keys I used bubbles because those letters sound similar to bubbles. Most sounds were part of one audio track and I edited such fin-dividual sounds out when I had to. Afterwards I assigned one standalone edited sound to a respective key. I used sounds by Pixabay contributors such as "freesound_community", "Universfield", "Soul_Serenity_Sounds" and "JuliusH".

It was a bit tedious to even assign the sounds to the keyboard in MechVibes' editor because I had to figure out how to even make custom soundpacks for MechVibes and where they have to go so that MechVibes can list the soundpack I made. When I did find out, I had to use an earlier version of MechVibes because the newest one, I think the version 2.30 was a pre-release and the editor did not work, so I just ended up using an earlier version.

When I got it working it was so neat to hear the drips, drops, splashes and bubbles. It was so refreshing (like water) to get it to work after all the hard work. My acquaintances really seemed to like it too (that is another reason why I decided to share it here too)!

Now, the end result... it sounds like a cave with dripping water and some bubbles or like a splashing pool. I cannot get enough of it and I may actually "flood" amidst the beauty of it and the joy I perceive.

Please excuse the strange and goofy text. I had nothing else as a sample text surfacing in my mind at that point because I was, let's say, quite overwhelmed from figuring out how to get it working and all those sundries. The text, it's somewhat funny... I suppose. The text file was supposed to be a link collection for waterfolkology sources of mine I have been saving and finding from "surfing the web". I removed the goofy sample text (but it's not gone, it's preserved in the video) and added the links later. One can see a bit of the link collection beginning at the top of the screen so excuse me for that alongside.

How much of a "water person" (not an actually naturally aquatic waterperson whose habitat is a body of water, instead a landlocked person who is fond of water) can one be to literally make their keyboard sound like as if one is splashing a pool with one's hands?

Daily Check-in Septmeber 14th, 2023 🎀

This was a good day. Busy, absolutely, but good nonetheless. Had a meeting with my 1st dietetics mentor, and she was absolutely the sweetest and sent me an email after our meeting about the projects she wants me to work on currently, as her mentee. Cannot wait to meet my 2nd mentor next week! Also, I got asked to go into work, so I pulled a 6.5-hour shift when I didn't need to, but I need money so it's worth it.

Ilia Amitola squeezed her hands together as was led room by room through her on-boarding process. The first room was like a scene from a bad police drama, with a rather unhinged blond-haired woman asking her about every facet of her short life. It was rather unnerving the amount of information the woman had on Ilia.

After the interrogation, she was led into what amounted to a doctor's office and went through and extensive... and invasive examination. Ilia shivered as she remembered the number of shots, vaccinations, and blood samples she was subjected to.

The third room, looked like a school room, and this is where she had been for the last four hours. Watching videos, reading manuals, and writing short multiple choice tests. All of it about policy, procedures, the Inner Circle's mission statement, and the organizations... structure of command.

Something you should know about me is that I can go rather far to commit to a bit.

I saw this video recently and was inspired for my capstone project (Statistics Major)

By recently I mean last night at 8pm (20:00) with my presentation of this project at 9:30 am today. However I decided it was too great to pass up so hear I am.

My presentation was on bootstrap stats which is used to increase sample size when otherwise unable to. This is supposed to give more accurate sample statistics.

First things first: Acquiring the Spaghettios A-Z

Unfortunately the ones he bought in the video were not in stock so I got these. As you can see these also have numbers. So I had to sort them both alphabetically and remove the meatballs and numbers. This process took about 2 hours with 2 people (me doing 4 cans my partner doing 2)

This is what my spreadsheet looked like at the end

I then went online and got the full movie script for Shrek that lacked image descriptions and who said what (aka just the dialog).

Using R studio I found the amount of each letter in the Shrek script.

A 2061, B 431, C 459, D 925, E 3208, F 504, G 691, H 1663, I 1844, J 62, K 535, L 1225, M 717, N 1771, O 2678, P 358, Q 37, R 1511, 2 1600, T 2552, U 1142, V 242, W 779, X 20, Y 1046, Z 9.

I then found the averages for each letter in my 6 cans combined (rounded up). From this I divided the Shrek script by the cans to find how many cans it would take per letter. Then I found the letter with the highest amount of cans needed and thus had my answer (268).

Now I did the bootstrapping. This is basically taking random numbers from my dataset (with replacement) and assigning them to random letters in a new row. I did this and created 3 new datasets. One with 120 entries per letter, one with 1,200, and the last one with 12,000. I then repeated the process that I did with the first can to find the amount of cans needed (256, 268, and 256 respectively).

So from this I can conclude that it would take 256-268 cans to recreate the Shrek script.

Thursday Check-In Post - Week 7

I guess I’m just now realizing the large scope this project entails by default. An in-depth analysis of 60-90 posts across three accounts with a ‘How to Guide’ that includes a sample of said content on top of it all.

I vaguely recall the mention of needing to create a piece of sample content for this assignment. Certainly should have considered that aspect with more weight. It makes me wonder if going with YouTube was the right call given that means making a video for this project which seems like a fair bit more work than the other site options in terms of creating content for the ‘How to Write’ guide.

For my analysis I intended to just look at the comments that the content creator actually replied to in relation to the likes. So not necessarily reading the entire comments section of 60-90 videos.

I guess my main concern moving forward would be how I could apply my research question/hypothesis in a video as an example. My hypothesis concerns interaction with the audience from the content creator in the comments section after the video has been made and published. I could certainly make a video on a similar topic to the accounts I’m looking at but I’m not sure how to create an example that would actually showcase what I put into my guide, given that I would be relying on external factors (people actually leaving comments on the video that I can respond to) in order to make my point.

I know that our hypothesis doesn’t necessarily need to be ‘correct’, so if my sample content is inconclusive, would it be acceptable to have that factored into my conclusions? Something akin to “data analyzed from the sample content’s was either null or inconclusive, which indicates my guide/data may only become relevant once a content creator has accumulated at least a small following.”

Feathered Folk Update #4

As you know, I've been working on setting up a small etsy shop where I can sell cards featuring my own illustrations of Australian native birds. As per my last post, I've actually finished setting up the shop, and have begun to work on some social media marketing. Though I'll be taking a break, this project has been quite the personal learning experience. This project has shown me just how much work is actually involved in setting up even a very small online store like this.

Before making my last update, I had been experimenting with prototypes for the cards. by getting samples printed at Officeworks.

Above is an image of my two samples. Both are printed on 200 gsm paper, with the left being on off-white with a glossy coat, and the right on uncoated plain white paper. I ultimately wasn't happy with either print. I liked the look of the illustration on the left print, with the gloss coat and off-white tone, but the coating also made it so that the inside was difficult to write in. Ink didn't dry properly, and it was difficult to use pencil. I felt that this really just defeated the purpose of a greeting card. The right hand card didn't have this problem, but it was also too flimsy.

I decided eventually to print at 300 gsm, with uncoated white paper, even though the cost of printing was slightly higher. I also reformatted the information on the back, as I felt there was something off about the design.

In the end, this is what I ended up with:

Below is my initial etsy store listing, with the description, which I made at the end of last week after I received my final prints. There were some additional, unexpected costs, such as a $20 store fee and a 30 cent listing fee that I had to pay, on top of the cost of printing the cards. It also took a little while to find the time to process the identity checks when updating the shop.

I had only uploaded images of the digital designs, and eventually felt that this was an inadequate representation of the product, especially for a public-facing post. I later took the product photos that can be seen previously, and added them to the listing, including an image of the cards in their packaging.

I also went on to create some social media marketing for the listing.

Though I had plans to create and upload a number of TikToks and instagram reels, the prospects of creating multiple short-form videos, in addition to the work of designing and prototyping the cards, became a little strenuous. I had a lot of time constraints between juggling work and three other uni assignments - two of which were due on the same date as this one will be. I was also limited in what I could do, by the wait times for all of the print orders. Though I will consider this short-form video content, and will hold onto the TikTok account, I decided to try to work with what I had just for this assignment. I created two slideshow posts for instagram using the product photos I had taken. One announced the release of the cards on etsy, and the other listed the designs featured in the pack. I also added the posts to my instagram story.

Additionally, I made an announcement on this tumblr account here, making use of more widely-seen hashtags that would allow me to not only organise my post in my blog archive, but also let the post be seen more widely. I tried to do that on this post as well. I also uploaded a notice on the BCM discord to reach a more local audience.

Though I didn't make any sales in this time span, I did manage to get some engagement with my store in the form of shop visits and views. I believe most of these came from word of mouth. I also gained two 'admirers' in the short time I had the shop up and running, who are people on etsy that follow my shop for updates.

HYPNOSPACE OUTLAW!!!

Legitimately one of my favorite games OF ALL TIME. Criminally underrated

It takes place in this sort of alternative historical timeline. Specifically spanning November, 1999 to January, 2000.

This company called Merchantsoft discovered a way that allows people to access the internet in their sleep via these headbands. The player is hired as a sort of moderator to report any activity that goes against the rules of Hypnospace.

You’re assigned specific cases, things like tracking down a specific piece of malware that’s been passed around, or figuring out who’s behind all the bullying in the teens/kids area.

The puzzle aspect centers around the sort of rabbit-hole nature of the early internet and reading people’s pages for clues on where to go next.

While most of them are usually unimportant to cases, there’s a TON of really interesting characters, fictional pop and consumer culture, to even real life events. I would never be able to do justice how well this game’s universe is built. Each page genuinely feels like it could’ve been a real person that existed at the time. The entire page someone made that includes a timeline of the popular music genres that ALL include a full song as a sort of sample is insane.

The music is INSANE. ITS SO GOOD. The way that the developers and whoever was in charge of the music MASTERED so so many different genres and themes only makes the word feel more real.

Literally every time I boot up the game on stream with my friends we make it a point to play their sort of version of the pokemon rap called The Squisherz Rap. Satellite Orchestra by Barnaby’s Chair is also super fun (also lowkey a Curtwen song but shhhh)

I could spend hours just sitting there and reading through the dozens of pages created for this fictional internet. Keep in mind this game came out in 2019 so there’s zero chance of any cut corners via ai. Which really highlights the fact that ai is just not needed, even for insane projects like this.

I cannot praise this game enough. PLEASE check it out, even if it’s just looking at the soundtrack.

How it relates to Floppy Disk Curt is mainly using a lot of art and aesthetics as a huge source of inspiration.
